Installation
Smart Meter Guard Installation Instructions
The Smart Meter Guard fits all smart meters in the US, Canada and Central America. There are slight variations of how smart meters are mounted but the Guard will fit each one with small differences. Here is an installation guide to the different configurations of smart meters.
Utility Box “Type 1” Installation:
This is the most common type utility box. Simply place the Smart Meter Guard over the smart meter on to the metal ring at the base of the smart meter. Then tighten the securing screw so it is snug. You’re done!
Utility Box “Type 2” Installation:
This is the next most common type of utility box that has a lock or clamp on the metal ring at the base of the smart meter. The Smart Meter Guard has a notch in the rim that fits right around the lock or clamp. Cut the metal mesh at either end of the notch with scissors and bend the mesh up. Place the Smart Meter Guard over the smart meter with the notch over the clamp or lock. Then tighten the securing screw so it is snug and you’re done!
Utility Box “Type 3” Installation:
This is the least common utility box where the metal ring at the base of the smart meter is covered by the utility box lid. In these cases you will need to use one of the two rubber “spacer”. No need to request a spacer, they are included in each order with free. The spacer fits on the inside rim of the Guard that allows it to cinch down around the glass of the smart meter instead of the metal ring that is covered.
Note: The Smart Meter Guard is meant to fit snug. If it doesn't seem to fit over the metal ring at the base of the smart meter please remove the nut and screw. Then gently stretch open the Guard. It's made to stretch. Place it over the metal ring at the base of the smart meter and put the screw and nut back on and tighten until snug.

Rubber Spacer Installation Instructions
Spacer is only used for the Type 3 utility box and are included with each order.
If you don't have a Type 3 utility box as described above then please recycle or discard the rubber spacer that is included with your order.
Very few utility boxes in the have the lid of the utility box covering the metal ring at the base of the smart meter. We call these Type 3. That metal ring at the base of the smart meter is what the Smart Meter Guard typically mounts to. In cases where the lid covers the metal ring we use a rubber spacer that allows the Smart Meter Guard to cinch down around the glass part of the smart meter instead of the metal ring that is covered. The Rubber spacer is quick and easy to install. Please follow these simple instructions.
- 2 spacers are supplied with your order, a thick and a thin one. It's best to start with the thick one.
- Remove the paper covering the sticky side of the rubber spacer.
- Place the sticky side of the spacer on the inside bottom rim of the Smart Meter Guard. Do not put the spacer on the glass part of the smart meter. The utility companies cannot access the meter if you do this.
- Place the Smart Meter Guard, with the spacer adhered to the inside rim, over the smart meter until it is almost flush with the utility box lid. It is not necessary for the Smart Meter Guard to be completely flush or actually touching the utility box lid.
- If the Guard fit on the smart meter is a little too tight you can remove the screw from the Guard and gently stretch the Guard open some, it's made to expand. Once this is done place the Guard over the smart meter as close to the utility box lid as you can and then put the screw back in and tighten it.
- If the Guard fits too loose with the spacer please add the second spacer right on top of the first spacer. Once this is done place the Guard over the smart meter as close to the utility box lid as you can and then put the screw back in and tighten it.
- Tighten the securing screw on the Smart Meter Guard until it is snug. It does not have to be tight to hold the Smart Meter Guard to the smart meter. You are done!

Then close the lid to the Router Guard. Make sure all the wires are exiting the Router Guard in the small cutout at the end of the Router Guard.
Once you do this the Router Guard will block about 95% of the RF emitting from the router. You will still be able to get a signal from your wireless devices by the range will be reduced by about half. This is because the 2% to 5% of the RF that gets out will enable you to get a small signal.
